17 Weeks and Dr. Appt

Today was my 3rd doctor's appointment and it went really well.  I met with Kathy, another midwife.  We went over how I was feeling and I told her about my bathroom issues.  She recommended eating 5 prunes/day and maybe trying Metamucil.  Hopefully it gets better.  She also said my thyroid lab results came back at 2.03 which is great.  They want to see it under 3.0 which I was so I won't have to take thyroid medicine.  I was so glad to hear that.  She put the doppler on my stomach and we heard the heartbeat almost immediately.  It was 145bpm.  A little lower than it has been the previous two visits.  My next appointment is August 10th and it is our anatomy scan.  We get to see baby for 20-30 minutes on the big screen!

How far along: 17 weeks

Weight gain/loss: Doctor's scale: 4lbs, mine says 6-7lbs.  So not ready to see the scale go up again.  It's silly I know, baby does need to grow.

Maternity clothes: Not yet, but I started wearing the Bella Band with my work pants this week.  I can still zip and button them, but the buttons start to get uncomfortable as the day goes on.  So the Bella Band helps.

Stretch marks: Using the cocoa butter

Symptoms: Sneezing and stuffy nose on and off throughout the day, waking up to pee 2-3x a night (doesn't help that I drink more water when I get up), constipation is more noticeable this time around.  Nothing too uncomfortable which I hope continues.

Sleep:  Pretty good.  Some nights better than others but overall I'm trying to go to bed earlier and get more rest.

Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat and feeling baby kick while I was rocking Joey last night at bedtime.

Gender: My initial feeling is girl but sometimes I think boy

Belly button in or out: Too early

Food cravings:  Sweets which is not really like me.  But I don't have to have them which is good.  I LOVE fruit which was the same with Joey.  Fruit is my favorite pregnant or not.

Movement: Felt a few kicks/jabs while I was rocking Joey to sleep last night.  It was a sweet feeling :)

What I miss: Alcohol!  We went out to dinner with my parents, grandparents and our Cali family to Maggiano's and the girls ordered Pomegranate Martinis.  They looked so good!!  I normally am not a big drinker and haven't had a full alcoholic drink since before I got pregnant with Joey.  I was very cautious while I was nursing and just didn't have the urge to drink.  It makes me relaxed and tired and I never needed help going to sleep and nursing relaxed me.  So now that I'm pregnant again, I won't be having any alcohol for a while!  I'm going to be the biggest lightweight when I do.

What I'm looking forward to: Anatomy scan is on 8/10.  Looking forward to that!

16 Weeks

How far along: 16 weeks

Weight gain/loss: About 5lbs now.  Definitely getting more of a bump now.  Baby is growing!!

Maternity clothes: No but I think I'm going to need the Bella Band soon for my work pants. I can still zip and button them but they aren't as comfortable.

Stretch marks: Cocoa butter!

Symptoms: Continuing to have a stuffy nose, sneezing and have to blow my nose all the time, some cramping/stretching of my lower stomach, constipation seems worse which is not fun!  I also think my hair is a lot drier than usual.

Sleep:  Not too bad, I am able to stay up later at night but that sometimes back fires when I have to be up at 545am to get ready for work.

Best moment this week: Pretty sure I felt a couple jabs on Monday.  Not strong enough to see but almost like popcorn popping in my stomach.

Gender: Feeling girl but not sure why.

Belly button in or out: Too early

Food cravings:  No cravings.  Still eating my fruit, oatmeal and salads.  Meat is still not so appealing and I haven't made it yet.

Movement: A couple little jabs here and there when I pay attention.

What I miss: My normal body.  I know things are changing and I have time to get back in shape after baby, but it's this in between not being pregnant and having a real bump that I don't like.

What I'm looking forward to: Next appointment is on 7/27.  Get to hear the heartbeat!

15 Weeks

How far along: 15 weeks

Weight gain/loss: Still haven't checked but guessing around 3-4lbs.

Maternity clothes: None yet.  My mom got me some clothes at TJ Maxx that are looser fitting a couple long skirts which I love!

Stretch marks: Keep using the lotion!

Symptoms: Stuffy nose....I remember getting like this with Joey but I thought it was earlier.  I had a couple sneezing attacks in Ohio and it's so frustrating to have to blow my nose continuously.  Other than that, nothing really new.

Sleep:  Overall good but I could use more.  Napping when Joey naps is helpful.

Best moment this week: I think I felt a few jabs and pokes, very slight but pretty sure it was baby.  Love that feeling!  Also I announced at work today to most of the girls.  Felt good to get the secret out and all of them were very happy and excited for me.

Gender: Still not sure but I feel more girl than boy.

Belly button in or out: Too early

Food cravings:  Not anything really special.  Though chocolate sounded good the other day. And I don't normally eat that.  And sweets were on my 'no' list for a long time.

Movement: Pretty sure I felt something on Saturday while in Ohio.

What I miss: Feeling energetic and not so tired and moody.

What I'm looking forward to: Starting to show and have a real baby belly instead of bloat that I'm always trying to hide and feel okay about.

14 Weeks

I am so late in posting this and I didn't take a picture either!  I'm really slipping this time around.  Probably has something to do with already having a toddler, moving to our new house, working and just daily life.  It's been hectic and crazy these last couple of weeks and will continue to be until we have our Troy Dr. house rented and more things settled at our new house.  But it's almost summer time so we have a wedding and Eidson Reunion in July and who knows what else in August.

How far along: 14 weeks

Weight gain/loss: I haven't checked this week.  Pants still fit (buttoned too!) so that's kind of nice.

Maternity clothes: Not yet, still wearing my regular work pants which I can still button and I'm not uncomfortable.  I am very self conscious so I try to wear looser tops.

Stretch marks: Cocoa butter, cocoa butter, cocoa butter!

Symptoms: Tired as usual.  I try to get to bed early and sometimes that helps but with the crazy heat we are having right now (upper 90's with heat indices in the 100s) and taking care of Joey, I am just drained!  Bloated and constipated which is not fun and at the end of the day it's far more noticeable.  I noticed today my lower stomach is kind of sore and feels like things are moving/growing in there.  My back tends to bother me more too which I know has to do with picking up and carrying Joey.  The midwife gave me some tips which has helped.

Sleep:  Just need more of it!  If I nap when Joey does on my days off, it really helps me get through the day.

Best moment this week: Having 5 days in a row off to spend with Joey.  Steve was pretty busy so I didn't get to see him as much as I would have liked.  I'm looking forward to things calming down some so we can do things as a family.

Gender: Not sure, we are going to Ohio this weekend to visit with Steve's family so it will be interesting to see if anyone has any guesses.

Belly button in or out: Too early

Food cravings:  Nothing really that I'm craving.  Though we did order Thai food again earlier this week.  I really like their Veggie Noodles dish.  But thinking about it now, I'm not that into it.  Seriously every day is different for me.  But I can usually count on my staples (fruit, cottage cheese, salad, cucumbers, bread and oatmeal).

Movement: Not sure.....I thought I felt some flutters or little taps last night and today.  It's so hard this time because I am hardly ever just sitting down relaxing.  I'm always on the go and the movements at this stage or so tiny I could easily be missing it.  I was already feeling flutters by this point with Joey.  So I've been trying to be more in tune and see if I feel anything.

What I miss: Not feeling so rushed and crazy.  I feel like I'm just behind in everything!

What I'm looking forward to: Life slowing down a bit hopefully!
